I have been living in Chiswick for nearly a year now and always seem to find culinary gems on and around the High Road. So, walking into Frankie's, I expected something really special.

What a shame - it seems that they spent most of their budget on the interior decorating, which was fun, unique & great for atmosphere. But it left pretty much nothing left for the food.

I started with a caprese salad and the mozzarella and tomatoes were smothered in pesto. My next misstep was ordering the carbonara which came in a huge bowl - my partner pointed out that it looked more soup than pasta. He ordered one of their steaks which was 'average,' just like the service. We voiced these concerns to the waitress, who shrugged and said she'd 'mention' it to the chef.

Such a disappointment, as it just looks fabulous and the terrace is great in the summer. If I'm ever forced to go again, I'm sticking to their cocktail list only.

Six of us visited London for a girlie birthday weekend & stayed in Chiswick. After reading various reviews we decided on Frankie's for the birthday meal. How pleased we were!!

We ate there on 18th April 08 & it was wonderful!! The staff were so friendly & attentive, they couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant itself is lovely & the Magician adds a little extra touch! The food was gorgeous, we all tried different things from the menu & everyone enjoyed it. I would definately recommend the Creme Brulee. As someone who doesn't usually enjoy this desert I was shocked & amazed at how gorgeous it was...didn't want it to end!!

Very well priced, it worked out about £25 each (inc tip) for a 3 course meal with various drinks that included cocktails, spirits & water.

Will definately be visiting next time we're in London.

Marco Pierre White was also in the restaurant !! So that was nice, Again, could not fault the food (I went for the Carbonara) absolutely mouth watering ! Service was quick, and very friendly. Would recommend to anyone who is thinking of going there in the near future.

This was a really nice place to go for our meal, the food was fantastic, the waiters/waitresses were very friendly and helpful, and above all, it was great value for money. Would definately recommend and return there myself sometime in the future.

I've been past this restaurant several times and always wanted to try it. I have to say it was completely different inside from the trattoria style of the outside, but don't let this put you off. Our evening started with a wobbly table but the staff were more than happy to move us to a more secure one! The food was absolutely perfect and cannot be faulted in my view. The fact you can have starter sized portions of the pasta dishes instantly appealed to me and I went for the gnocchi, which was lovely. The pizzas were amazing and very large for the modest price tag. I must recommend the marscapone creme brulee for dessert - I never wanted it to end! For a 3 course meal for 2 to be under £40 (with wine and water) in Chiswick is astounding and with such good food I will definitely be returning soon.

I have recently moved to Chiswick and am amazed and delighted by the wonderful array of places to eat, drink and generally make merry. The temptation to go to Frankie's was purely due to the very pretty Meditteranean style terrace, not something you see too often in London....so on a sunny lunchtime in I went expecting the worst.

It was great, the food, the staff are lovely, trendy and cool without being snotty. I really can't fault Frankie's. After a really well made Negroni cocktail I had the carpaccio followed by the Spaghetti Vongole and my partner plumped for the Salumi misti followed the glazed belly of pork both of which were gorgeous. I recommend the zucchini fries as as side order.

My only gripe was that we were not given (or maybe just didn't see) the Sunday Lunch Set Menu which at under £10 for two courses is a steal, the people next to us had the roast beef which looked yummy. All in all a really good experience. I for one will definitely be back. Great food, great location, good value for money.

My boyfriend and I went to Frankie's last night for the second time, and were so disappointed! The service was terrible as well as the food. Our starters were okay but then I made a mistake by ordering the chicken burger. I honestly do not know how they could call this chicken - it was processed rubbish. I could not believe it when it arrived at my table, and when I tried to complain I was insulted by being told it was fresh chicken – I promise you Jamie Oliver would have had a field day!

After the complaint we pretty much got ignored for the rest of the evening. This was a real pity as last time Frankie's was amazing. Maybe just an off night? Who knows, but I will never go back there again.

Visited Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill in August. Extremely disappointed. We were served warm prosecco. Old tasting parma ham and spaghetti vongole that tasted like it was bathed in butter! Overpriced too, service added for not a great service! And a women sitting outside bought her dog into the ladies toliet - very dirty. Only appealing thing at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill was the decor. Sorry, will not be going back!

I go to the Knightbrisdge and Chiswick branches of Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill a lot and I cannot fault them on atmosphere, service or food. I also love the added gimic of the magician - very entertaining. I always have a fab night at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill and often have the veal which is delicious and is the biggest portion of food I have ever had served to me!

So nice to see them not scrimping on portions - although I had friends with me who felt their portions were on the small side.

Frankie’s Italian Bar and Grill was one of the most disappointing nights I’ve had out for a long time. The service or lack of it was shocking, none of the staff looked happy, they were not professional or really even that bothered. We were lucky to get two drinks each, bread arrived after starters, food was passed in front of us instead of the staff moving around the table, no one bothered to check on us at any stage and it was hard to find anyone if we wanted anything. The food was okay, apart from the fillet steak which was excellent. When I refused to pay the service charge at Frankie’s Italian Bar and Grill they didn't even ask why!

Sadly, Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill is one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long time. I went for a hen meal and found the food to be expensive and not worth the money. Three courses with wine was £65.00. Which was a lot when I had a (dry) chicken escalope for my main. They need to hire a good chef.

To divert your attention from the bad food they had a magician wondering around - he was the only good thing about the restaurant. General consensus is no one is going back to Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill.

I went to Frankie's with a group of friends having heard bad reviews but thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt. However we were not very impressed with the food, particularly the pizza's which were exactly the same as the starter garlic bread but with extra cheese! But the real disappointment at Frankie's was the staff, we were served really well until the restaurant had nearly cleared and then the staff couldn't be bothered any more - nobody came to get our dessert order or give us the bill. In fact we stood for 15 minutes at the bar waiting for someone to notice us and get our coats! They really didn't want to know. Considering the amount we spent that night the service was extremely poor! We will definitely not be going there again!

I really wanted to give Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill the benefit of the doubt but sadly it let itself down. I don’t usually write reviews on restaurants but this one really deserves it!

The staff at Frankie's are rude, service is awful and they are too busy admiring themselves in the numerous mirrors to pay the dinners any attention.

What was good about the place is the interior – very funky and the atmosphere isn't too bad. The maitre’d was extremely stroppy though – I accidentally knocked my fork on the floor, I lent down to pick it up and then accidentally knocked a glass of wine all over the table. The maitre’d came running over huffing and puffing, I apologised to him several times but he just grunted back at me. Our paper tablecloth was not even changed so we had to sit through the whole meal with a wet table and they did not offer to replace the wine or the food.

The meal (of only 1 starter, 1 pizza, 1 duck, 1 bottle of wine) came to over £100 – for this amount of money you do expect much better service. You are basically paying for the name – Marco has really let himself down with Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill.

I was very excited at the thought of Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill I wasn't overly impressed with the original in Knightsbridge, but naively hoped that things would have improved with a new team in W4.

I took five people for dinner and the six of us agreed that it was one of the most unpleasant experiences that we had ever encountered. Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill looks great but the acoustics are unbearable and the service is neglegent.

When our sour waitress brought the main courses she knocked over a bottle of water which knocked over several glasses. The waitress offered no apology or refills. The managers were too busy trying to be cool to actually notice so we all gave up, left as soon as we could and vowed never to return.

Marco Pierre White must have stopped caring about food and customer service.

I would like to write that on visiting Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill last night for a family birthday that I was somewhat nervous as previous reviews suggested that this was a big white elephant.

I was really delighted to say that not only was the decor very atmospheric compared with the cold and often sterile minimalist cafe's disguised at 'the place to be at restaurants' but comfortable and welcoming.

Our party whom contained 4 chefs all chose different dishes from a fillet of sole to a simple pizza and I am pleased to say that all the food arrived at the same time and was really well presented. The best bit was that they all were delicious.

Ok, it's not the cheapest place in the world but if you want to pay Pizza Express prices then go Pizza Express.

I will definitely be going to Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill again and thank goodness someone has realised that a lady always looks better in soft warm lighting.

I went to Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill with a friend as a joint birthday treat and I was not impressed.

True, the decor is lovely, but it has lost the atmosphere that it used to have, and the forecourt at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill is now a wasted space.

we were seated out of the way as we hadn't booked, and were pestered by the head waiter to order as quickly as possible. the house wine was good, but both my friend's and my dishes were lacklustre. the gnocci was soggy and overcooked and my pizza was bland. considering it was supposed to be mildly spicy was a bit of a disappointment. when it came to leaving, one of the waitresses pestered us for a tip.

£40 for a bottle of wine and two main courses does seem a little overpriced, the food was very much lacklustre and the staff were pushy almost to the point of unpleasantness. i definitely wouldn't go there again.

My first impression of Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill was of very nice decor and a good athmosphere. However, a group of us dined on a Saturday evening and the service and quality of food was dreadful.

The Ox tongue was very salty, the pasta was inedible and the waitress' attitude made things worse.

We gave Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill a second chance, hoping that things may have improved, and returned on a Tuesday evening only to be disappointed again. Our experience on Tuesday was worse than on Saturday.

It's a shame to see a nice venue spoilt by a lack of staff and a chef who cannot cook.

The food at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill was average but the evening was ruined by two things:

1. There appeared to be only two ladies loos, one of which was occupied for hours.

2. When we got the bill, the waiters had tried to charge us for an extra bottle of wine, and made no apology at all when this was pointed out to them.

Will we be going back to Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill? I doubt it...

Frankie’s Italian is horrible. I’d rather eat beans on toast for the rest of my life than return to Frankie’s Italian – it’s overpriced, under-cooked rubbish.

While passing a couple of days ago I noticed that the Pug had disappeared, so yesterday my boyfriend and I decided to try Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill. Our initial reaction was wow, the decor and greeting at the door was fabulous. However this was to be short lived. After finishing our drinks at the bar we decided to dine in the restaurant which was also a feast for the eyes, mirror balls and mirrored walls gave warmth and depth to the whole restaurant, I wish however I could say the same for the staff and food.

Considering this was only the fourth day of opening at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill, the quality of food and lack of attentive staff on a non-busy Sunday left me with the feeling that this was a place I wouldn't give a second chance to. My only assumption to this disppointing start would be the impromptu visit by one of the partners Marco Pierre White who was dining in the corner with some friends. The staff seemed too preoccupied with satisfying him, they forgot about the rest of us. The french manageress did however deduct the service and my espresso which I waited 20 mins for from our bill. A little too expensive for a bar and grill especailly when the cooks serve a basic dish of pasta in tomato and basil sauce overcooked. This is far from any Italian experience I've ever had.

Pug is no more. It's very sad, particularly as I didn't realise until we were already seated and halfway through our drinks as the Pug signage is still in place! The menu revealed that Pug has been purchased by Frankie Detorri and Marco Pierre White and is now Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill. They are refurbishing the place and intend to officially open in September. Unfortunately, in the meantime the place is lacking its past qualities of delicious food with chic decor. The food was poor to say the least, in fact we left without eating it. In fairness the staff were delightful and I think we will give it another go in September when they should have things sorted out. But be warned - it is no longer the Pug us Chiswick residents knew and loved!
